The Uluwatu Guide for Skaters, Yoga & Wellness Lovers
If you know me, you know I’ve been spending a lot of time in Bali, specifically in Uluwatu. And you would also know that I love a great gym, good yoga class, nice cup of coffee, and a beautiful beach to watch the sunset from. So after having way too much time on my hands trying all of the things in Uluwatu, here are some spots I think you’ll love if you’re also into skating, yoga, and wellness.
Wellness studios
Yoga studio: Alchemy. All of the teachers are excellent and the shalas are beautiful. If you’re looking for a yoga class in Uluwatu, you can’t go wrong with Alchemy. They also have plenty of evening events, such as Kirtan and ecstatic dance - highly recommend!
Pilates studio: ERA. The only on-demand reformer pilates studio I ever saw, and I wish there were more common! If you love reformer workouts but don’t always want to go to a group class, this is the place for you. You pay for 1-hour access to the reformer bed, connect your earphones to the smart screen, select your workout and follow the instructor on the screen. And - side note, - they also have incredible massage chairs.
Gym / Group workouts: Bambu Fitness. The most beautiful gym I’ve ever been to, with amazing instructors and group classes too. Try their booty class and thank/hate me later.
Skate spots
Surfskating: Cintalam. A super fun surfskate park with mellow curves, suitable for beginners (and it’s all pink!)
Skate bowl: Uluwatu Surf Villas. They open a few times a week to the public. Suitable for skateboarders and surfskaters.
Longboard Dancing: hit up @docksessionbali!
Coworking Spaces
Well yes, sometimes we need to get some work done too. Ulu is easily digital nomad heaven, so fear not, they’ve got you covered. Here’s where I’d usually go for a laptop day:
The Space. An amazing coworking space run by lovely people, with fast WiFi, food options, meeting rooms. Perfect for when you’re trying to lock in.
Ulu Garden. If working from a cafe is more your vibe, this is my top choice for a work sesh. And why not visit their gym or take a quick yoga class there after.
Coffee & Food
This is the hardest category to pick favourite for, but here’s where I would send you if you only had only day in Ulu:
Coffee: Arabica (try their dark latte!)
Warung: Warung Local
Smoothie bowls: Chela
Salads & Breakfast: Alchemy
Dinner: Mana
Shopping
I couldn’t write a post for skate lovers without mentioning Drifter, a surf and clothing shop I can lose myself (and a few $$) in weekly. Perfect favourite oversized tees, caps, surf prints, accessories, you name it. They also host lots of events that brings the surf community together, so kudos to that.
